Email Dharma: "The Karma of Forwarding Emails"

A funny one, I recently came across....Understanding it would require some knowledge of the Bhagvad Gita esp. Arjun's dialogue with Krishna

*The Karma of Forwarding Emails *

*Bhagvad Gita – Adhyay 19*

Arjun*: Hey Vasudev, how can I do the most heinous and unpardonable act of forwarding email that I receive, to my friends, relatives and revered elders?

**

Krishna: Paarth, at this moment, none of them is your friend or foe, relative or in-law, young or old and good or evil. You have no escape from following your Net-Dharma. Make haste to log on and send off the email to one and all. That is the only Karma expected of you and Dharma you must follow.*

*Arjun: Hey Murari! Do not implore me to do something that pricks my conscience and stirs my soul.**

Krishna:

O Kunti-Putra, you are caught in the vicious circle of Maya. In this material world, you are committed to no one except to yourself, your Dharma and your mouse. emails have existed for the last 25 years and will remain long after you are gone. Rise above the Maya and perform your

bounden duty. **

Arjun: Lord Krishna, pray and enlighten me on how email is related to Maya**

Krishna: Vatsa, email is the 6th element in the universe – Aap, Vaayu, Jal, Agni, Aakaash and email. It is at the same time animate and inanimate, living and dead beat. It overloads the system and fills up the hard disk. But it serves one great purpose. It leads people to believe that they are filling their time in an intellectual pursuit by reading and re-forwarding mail. It gives them a sense of achievement without investing their intellect and efforts. Like the Atman that leaves one’s physical body and moves on to another, the email moves from system to system and never gets deleted or dies.**

Arjun: Great Giridhaari, kindly tell me what the true attributes of email are. **

Krishna: Neither fire can burn it, nor air can evaporate it. Neither can it be conquered nor can it be defeated. Email is omnipresent and immortal like your noble and eternal soul. Unlike an arrow shot from your bow, many a time the email forwarded by you, will even return to you safely after some months or even years, allowing you to re-re-forward it to the same people.**

Arjun: Great Saarathi, my salutations to you. You have opened my eyes to the cult of email. I was lost in the Maya and have been reading all the email that I keep receiving and doing no other Karma. Now on, I will just press the "Forward" button without reading any of it and send it to all and sundry, friends and foes, relatives and in-laws, young and old. That will surely bring them to their knees in this epochal battle of Good against Evil, in the Kurukshetra. ****

Krishna: Arjuna, victory or defeat is not in your hands. Do not ponder over the fruits of your labour. Just keep forwarding email and make one and all go bananas reading it and you will have done your supreme duty**…..**

Facebook Shutting Down March 15?

Are rumors about Facebook shutting down march 15 true? CNN does not think so. Read more at :

Facebook NOT shutting down March 15

However can there be smoke without fire? If not shut-down is the hype and buzz indicative of some other announcement by Facebook?  The Facebook IPO? Or does Mark just plan to give his employees the day off as he may be planning to get married on that day?

Jain Silk, Ahimsa Silk

Interesting article from the WSJ:

Taking the Violence Out of Silk

Do you know how many silkworms are normally killed to make a silk sari? Kusuma Rajaiah, a 55-year old government officer from India’s Andhra Pradesh state, does: “Around 10,000.”

Mr. Rajaiah estimates that around 15 silkworms are normally sacrificed to produce a gram of silk yarn. For years, he’s been battling against what he describes as the “cruel killing of millions of innocent worms.”

But there’s no need to give up silk: Mr. Rajaiah has long come up with an alternative. He realized the lure of silk was too strong to persuade people to give it up altogether so he came up with a technique that spares the life of the silkworm.

Kusuma Rajaiah displayed a fabric woven from nonviolent silk yarn. He’s the man who invented “Ahimsa” – or “nonviolent” – mulberry silk, a fabric which has since reached temples in Tamil Nadu and red carpets in Hollywood. Read more...

Is Wikileaks a CIA creation? Is Julian Assange a CIA agent?

While the party line is that Julian Assange is a terrorist deserving the same punishment as Osama Bin Laden there are some others who suspect the very veracity of the leaks :

"this latest wikileaks cache seems to be a plant by the Americans. There is nothing truly revealing about the cables. Everything I've seen so far is basically what the US would like to say but can't do so officially because of diplomatic and political constraints. I think our man Assange has been snookered. "

"the merit of content leaked by "Cablegate". Nothing that we don't already know - Iran's nuclear ambitions, corruption in Afghanistan, Pakistan's coziness with terrorists, Middle East's distrust of Iran, Putin's an alpha dog, etc. etc. C'mon! If this is what US Ambassadors and Embassy staff are typing back to State department, then it's a huge waste of taxpayers' money, cause we can read these things in NY Times/Washington Post! Cablegate is the National Enquirer version of world diplomacy – American style."

Difficult to sift fact from fiction. What do you think the truth is? Are these leaks for real? or are they a plant in the greatest information hoax ever to happen since a dead body washed off the shore of Spain during WWII ("Operation Mincemeat")

Is Michael Jackson still alive? Did he really die ?

Any sightings? "Michael Jackson sighted in Bahrain" "at the Dunkin Donuts in Paducah"

Did the autopsy include a DNA test to validate that it was indeed the body of Michael Jackson, son of Joe and Katharine Jackson?

Has this drama of death been created so that Michael can escape to lead a true life away from his creditors or his "slave drivers" (Concert company)? Or to get Insurance money for his family?

When did the switch happen? Did the real Michael ever return from the exile in Bahrain?

Or has the real Michael Jackson been abducted by aliens?

Some other doubters (or a non doubter) :
Is Michael Jackson Still Alive?

Herbal Viagra cures "Electile Dysfunction" : A potential cure for NYS Senate woes?

Maybe this what is needed to get NYS Senators back to work, distribute some herbal Viagra to cure their "Electile Dysfunction". If it can get two arch rival parties together in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, maybe it can work the same wonder with the sparring NYS Republicans and Democrats :

Herbal Viagra brings out rare bonhomie in TN assembly
A brand of herbal Viagra, which has become a runaway hit weeks after it was launched by a state-run corporation, brought out a rare bonhomie in the Tamil Nadu assembly between members of arch rivals DMK and AIADMK after it was distributed for feedback.

This product launched by a state owned corporation in India ("Laboob Sageer" manufactured by TAMPCOL) has been a runaway hit with the company struggling to meet demand.

Oh Bear !!!

Looks like for Animal Control departments, the only good bear is a dead bear. This video clip should be used by Animal Rescue Departments all over the country as an example of how NOT to rescue a stranded animal:

If embed video does not work use following link :
Bear Dies after fall from tree

  • Note how poorly the hay bales are placed

  • Note how loosely the net is held - were they expecting a light teddy bear to drop from the tree?

Mao Vs. Marx in "Red" Castle : Mamata wins

Isn't it ironic :
Reds vs reds: It's war in West Bengal's Lalgarh

Maoists and Marxists are battling it out in India's communist ruled West Bengal state's Lalgarh area. Lalgarh means Red Castle in English.

Mao and Marx must be turning in their graves("Mao"soleum).

Who will be the winner - Hope it's "Moolah"- Capital. Right now it seems to be "Mamata" Banerjee whose party trounced the Reds in West Bengal in the recent elections for the Indian Parliament.

Remember the old fable of the cat winning when the 2 monkeys fought...
